Edwards and Gary O'Neil represent the early candidates under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on Sunday following the squad's 10-match winless start to the top-flight campaign.

Furthermore both candidates - each of whom have previous associations to the club - are part of the names to be evaluated by the Wolves ownership.

The manager is presently at another club, which would create a possible hurdle to his hiring at Molineux.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton head coach - who played more than 100 of appearances for Wolves during his playing career - is considered a leading contender for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys backing from the Wolves directors as they begin the search of appointing a new manager.

O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise contender, even though he would be a shock appointment considering he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.

The former West Ham player is currently unemployed meaning the club would not need to pay any buyout fee.
